Having the right tools is vital for producing good music. I recently added a Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar to my tool chest. When I was 14 my Dad took me to a music shop in Jacksonville, NC and allowed me to buy a nice electric. I wanted a Fender Strat or Telecaster and I wound up with a 72 Fender Telecaster Deluxe. I played a Gretsch Country Gentleman and liked it a lot but for me at the time it didn't have the "coolness" of a strat or tele. Ever since I've always wanted one. And Chet made it look easy to play! By the way, when I bought that 72 Tele, we went to a pawn shop and picked up an old amp. At the time I was a little bummed that it wasn't new. It was a '65 Fender Deluxe Black Faced Reverb. My dad paid $100 for it. I didn't realize what I had. Loving my Gretsch!
